November 2, 2011 – Day 93 of Morgan’s Stalking – The Mysterious Alibi “March,” What Does It Mean?

Steve is up early, and leaves for work, while it is still dark out.  Snow has fallen during the night, and it is melting off as morning breaks.  The streets are wet, but not icy, and the roofs and lawns have been gently covered in a light layer of white.  For snow country it is a gentle reminder of winter to come, when the road will need plowing, and cars will need to be uncovered, and windshields scrapped of ice before they can be driven, that is the winter right around the corner.  This was more of a light flurry compared to that.

After Morgan left for class, I walked outside in our backyard with the dogs, and was shocked at what I saw over the fence!  The foot trails of a person that was here last night.  I stood up on a bench, and with my eyes, followed the trail crossing behind the house, then turning and coming right to the outside corner of our room, as if someone came just close enough to reach out and touch the corner of the house, and peer into our Master Bedroom window!  Then back across the yard, up and over the berm toward the ranch that was behind our house, and twenty feet down, coming back over and heading for the front, right between our next door neighbor, Ken’s house and ours.  It was only lacking a sign that said “I was here”.  But why were there was no noises last night, no rocks on windows?  Morgan had said it was a quiet night before she left.

I called Steve and told him it looked like a very deliberate trail, straight, marching from this point to this point to the next.  It was unlike anything I had ever seen out there before.  Of course the trail taken by the person was clearly recorded in the snow, and since this was the first snow of any consequence this year it was so surprising to see all of the trails.  I wondered if this was what he did every other night he came.

Steve wanted me to call the sheriff’s department to report the incident, which I did, and then I called him back.  We were talking about how weird this was, as he drove home.  He pulled in the drive, and immediately saw the trail up there, crossing the front of our house and our other next door neighbor, Rhonda’s yard before veering out to the street.  We avoided walking on the yard and went up and down the street.  Then back through the house to see where it began (behind the house and over the berm) and ended.  It was obvious; the snowfall had stopped long before it filled the footprints in.  Was this a break for us, finally?

We went back inside and Steve drew a map of our corner of the neighborhood while he was waiting for the deputy, he carefully filled in the path of the footsteps and went to compare his map to what was still outside.  He called out that the trail passed right inbetween the sheriff’s two wildlife cameras, so he wanted me to call Detective Glassmire, but I did not get him on the phone and then left him a message.  The sheriff’s camera must have caught a perfect picture!

When the sheriff deputy arrived, Steve walked him around the trail, ten feet off to the side, pointing out the starting points, and it was then that they saw another trail, with an obvious section of backtracking.  Trying to walk in the same set of footprints twice, but not quite being able to do it.  Steve told me how he had looked at the deputy and asked him if he was seeing the same thing he saw.  I watched Steve from the back patio a few houses down very slowly walking backward, while looking over his shoulder and down.  The deputy nodded to him and agreed with whatever Steve was showing him.

They came back to our house and the deputy was handing Steve back his “map” and saying it was a good idea that we had documented the path that the footprints follow, and wondered if we saw anyone last night.  Steve tells him no, but that it probably is on video, it will just take a while to locate when it happened.  The deputy wants us to definitely check the video cameras and Steve adds that he will photograph whatever we can.  It was cold out, and with that the deputy left.

Morgan has the camera with her, so Steve just uses his phone, and walks around photographing what is left of the prints in the snow.  He would really like to go over the cameras with me, but does not have the time right now.  I am really busy also, and Steve leaves to go back to work.

We talk by phone, as he is driving away, about how curiously the trail does not go by Morgan’s window, which every time before this was the center of attention.  In fact the trail never goes down her side of the house at all, avoids it completely.  And of course there was no noise last night, if I had not walked outside and seen the trail I would not have even have known that this had happened.  At the rate it was melting away it would all be gone by noon.  This could have been a non event – and gee, if our cameras hadn’t recorded something I guess the sheriff’s would say we didn’t have a stalker…right?

Look for the little white flashes of light in the upper left corner.  That is at the top of the berm – looks like someone is texting on their cell phone…maybe saying, “Now what do I do – it’s snowing out.  Should I still go through with this ‘alibi’ walk around?”  That is what I believe was happening.  Then wait till it reaches the 1:04 spot and you will see the ‘female” get caught on camera coming over the berm.

Today’s email from the felony stalking detective, assigned to our case, Sheriff Detective Rob Glassmire:

Hi Toni,
Attached are a few links that you might find helpful.
Taser: http://www.taser.com/products/self-defense-products/taser-c2 Stalking Resource Center: http://www.ncvc.org/src/Main.aspx

I have only briefly looked at this website but it seems to have a lot of really good information.

I’m also reading a book on my Kindle called “How to Stop a Stalker” by Mike Proctor. It has a lot of good information. I’m not as far through as I would like to be but I try and read a little bit every night. It’s geared towards the victim and not the investigator.

We will stay in touch. If you call, try and call me on my cell phone, ———-. That way if I am at home or away from the desk I have a better chance of picking up. If I am at home and I don’t answer it is because my kids are probably around and acting up. Leave a message and I will call you back shortly after.

Stay with it. You, Steve, and Morgan are very strong. We will do the pretext phone call on Sunday and go from there.

Thank you, Rob

November 1, 2011 – Day 92 of Morgan’s stalking – seems like all is well, but it is not…

Morgan gets a text message from her girlfriend, “Call me! Hey Morgan 🙂 ”  And Morgan texts her back, “Hey cutie pie how are you?”  Steve and Morgan have already been in contact and she is on her way home.  He is hidden in another spot.  Every time he goes to a different place.  He has not told Morgan, but he keeps this a secret from her.  We have heard so much about ways that our communications with Morgan can be intercepted that we are being ultra cautious.

Steve calls me because he knows how worried I am, and tells me that Morgan has just past where he is and in a minute he will start to follow her home.  He tells me it’s snowing and freezing out, there will not be a stalker in this weather.  It helps, but still I am worried that he is going to be close enough and I express this to him.  He tells me to not worry, that she will be out of sight, but he feels like we have to take small chances to catch him.  If she stops for even a few seconds he will catch up, then he can speed way up, and be upon her in absolutely no time at all.

I have a sick, empty feeling in my stomach, I feel we are taking chances with our daughter.  But in order to protect her, this is what it has come to.  Taking calculated risks, leaving her out of our sight for seconds at a time.  Hoping that our extra bit of hanging back is enough to give her stalker enough courage to move in, and then be caught.

There is no harrowing moment tonight, Morgan comes home without incident and wonders what all the fuss is about.  I know that this frightens her, that she might be followed again, and we are reminding her of it.  But I weigh that against how the Garfield Sheriff’s Department fell flat on their face, with the assurance that next time it would be different, when in fact the next time was worse.  I am not saying that they may not have intercepted him if she had dialed 911 while driving, but right when she got home and we called them they could have been proactive and looked for the car, pulled it over and questioned him – there are not too many ways to go from that intersection.   This further eroded any hope Morgan had in them of stopping this nightmare.

I met her in the driveway, with the usual spray and gave her a kiss.  She thanked me and then we saw the lights of Steve’s truck turning onto the street.  Morgan told me that we didn’t have to do this.  I told her, oh yes we do Morgan, and we will never stop, you know that,

We hugged, and when Steve drove up she walked to his truck and hugged him too.  I watched him whisper in her ear, and I wondered what “daddy thing” he had just told her.  She smiled, so I knew it was a good one.  We all walked in the house and Steve and I held hands watching her go to her room.  She told us we were “too much,” but without saying a word Steve and I knew we were not enough, not yet, but we knew we would be, we had to be.

We headed for an inviting bed, and said nothing, just staring at a dark ceiling for the longest while.  Then for some reason we both sat up and decided to check the cameras before going to sleep.  It seemed like I had heard noises earlier, really, really small noises, so I wasn’t concerned as it was snowing out.  We were exhausted, but went into the bathroom where it was all set up and sat together looking at our camera monitor, calling up motion events for the evening, there was one in particular we went right to, at 23.51.30 camera number 4 spots a little light moving around on the other side of the berm.  We watched it a few times and could not tell what it might be.  Tired and needing sleep we decided it could wait until morning.  Steve said it was probably a reflection of something.

We went to bed, then slept, and I felt we had somehow moved in a positive direction tonight…boy was I wrong.

Almost forgot another milestone

Last week the Morgan Ingram Blog went over 1/2 million views for the week, and I was too busy dealing with hackers of Morgan’s Blog too share.  But someone on their way home from shopping stopped her stalker in his tracks. And a small radio station began to raise awareness of crimes reported in one Sheriff’s district and ignored right next door. I applaud you all for your concern. The time to take stalking seriously has arrived. Remember that Morgan loves you for your efforts!  And the next victim we help could just be you. Share Morgan’s stalking with your friends. We all will make a difference!!!

October 26, 2011 – Day 86 of Morgan’s Stalking

I miss you rocks on a camping trip

In case the good news slipped under the radar, on the 56th day of the stalking, Morgan’s case was confirmed to be a felony stalking case.  It was 56 days, and it was finally a felony stalking case.  Fifty-six days!  I have read the Colorado Revised Statutes twice, and I don’t see any time restriction, law enforcement does not even have to wait one day.  The US Department of Justice says, “Stalking is a pattern of repeated and unwanted attention, harassment, contact, or any other course of conduct directed at a specific person that would cause a reasonable person to feel fear.

Morgan felt fear from day two.  Steve and I felt fear as well – fear for our daughter’s safety, fear of the unknown.  All of our lives were turned upside down…this had been 56 days of REPEATED harassment, unwanted surveillance, tresspass, and attacks.  The stress we were all under was unbelievable.  I have posted – just when does stalking become stalking?  Today to answer this question, again, it is a pattern of repeated and unwanted attention, harassment, contact, or any other course of conduct directed at a specific person that would cause a reasonable person to feel fear.  I would also further like to point out – this is why I believe anti-stalking laws have to become stricter.  It’s one thing to have anti-stalking laws on the books, but it’s another to have those laws enforced, because if locally they are not taken seriously, stalking can become lethal.

At 11:59 pm a rock hit Morgan’s window, and startled her from bed.  Earlier today Steve went outside with a new BB gun, and using plastic bullets to try to approximate the noise Morgan had been hearing on her windows up till tonight.  This was much louder and more upsetting for Morgan.

I sent the detective an email about the incident, which had been caught on the video cameras in the driveway.  He said he is interested to see it next time he is at our house.  I didn’t tell him about the rock incident, as it had to wait until he got back anyway.

Today is October 15, 2012 – And yesterday’s blog was such a perfect example of what I mean about protocol, and laws changing in stalking that I could not pass it up.  Yesterday on the blog, I posted a film clip of a stalker in the driveway.  A strange man doing something nefarious, and I say this because who else would be out in our driveway at 11:30 pm at night crouched behind my car in the driving rain?  And how often would evidence like this be available in a stalking case?

Our sheriff, Lou Vallario has gone on TV and said they were out at our house over 50 times and never saw any sign of a stalker.  His detectives saw this video clip on my computer (and it was very clearly a picture of a male popping up from behind the LR3 into a standing position and running across the driveway to the bushes for cover as our new neighbor Matt drives up the street), and if that is not a sign of a stalker then just what is?  The stalkers don’t come to the front door, and politely request a sign in sheet saying they were there, not our stalker anyway.  Our stalker actually did whatever it took to not be caught in the act – is this a shock to anyone?  In this particular clip we caught him because a neighbor happened to drive up the street while he was hiding behind my car.  If he comes toward the house between the truck and the car then the alarm goes off, the stalker knows this.  He had one way to go – no other way, and he took it.

Lucky for the stalker, Matt did not see him.  Or would that have mattered?  Say Matt saw him and told the detectives he had seen a man leaving our driveway, and hiding in our bushes, would they have arrested someone?  NO!  Would they have gone and questioned someone?  NO!  Based on past reactions to far greater evidence, there would have been no response at all.  Just like there was on October 19th when Morgan was followed home in her car.  Morgan was frightened and frustrated.  She was beginning to lose all faith in the sheriff department’s ability to protect her, or catch her stalker at this time.  And looking back wasn’t she 100% right?  They never caught her stalker, and they were not able to protect her.  They managed a very pathetic murder scene investigation, which they instantly saw as absolutely unrelated to her ongoing stalking.  100 pages of gross incompetence reports later and what crime, there was no crime here, no stalking, no murder…who really believes that?

Interestingly enough the volunteered votes to convict so far on the blog, if those chiming in were on a jury, and had to find guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, the prime suspect Keenan, is, so far, 100% guilty – based only on the blog to date.  And trust me you have not seen the really damning stuff yet.  100% guilt and the sheriffs department has closed the stalking investigation, and the pathologist carried through on his threat, and changed Morgan’s death from natural causes to a suicide, after nine months with no new evidence.  Steve and I were dismayed when the sheriffs indicated that they were 100% certain Keenan was the stalker, because we were far more convinced that Keenan was acting as part of a gang and there were others involved.  We believed there were at least one other, and maybe two other participants at the time.  Now we believe there were at least four participants in total and perhaps as many as five.  And the sheriffs department has dropped the case, felony stalking one day – next day, no stalking, and what changed?  NOTHING!  We believed in the system and what happened – so far there has been no justice for Morgan – people responsible are still out on the streets to go do this again to someone else’s daughter and until changes are made this will just repeat itself over and over again.

Oh, Morgan died, was killed, or committed suicide, that has changed.  But does any of that mean she was not stalked? I think not, not at all.  Steve and I spent over four hours this weekend listening to interpretations of the crime that could lead to a correct manner of death as suicide.  Steve and I said nothing, just listened, and not one person thought this was even a POTENTIAL suicide.  Not one.  And what if it were a suicide?  What if the fear of her stalker drove her to that, how come nobody even wants to mention that as a possibility.  Steve and I are 100% certain it was not a suicide for many reasons that will be shared with you over the next few weeks.  Then you too can decide for yourself.  Just remember, anyone who still votes for suicide will have to answer the question if it could have been caused by her stalker.  And we have not even raised the reason for her death that medical minds thought was most likely, before we found the massive dose of amitriptyline, and before we later found the components of a date rape cocktail.  So answer me this, because I’m her mom, and I don’t get a vote:

  • 100% felony stalking case (plus)
  • Substantial reality of fright from her stalking being a small component in her untimely death (plus)
  • 100% massive dose of Amitriptyline listed as insignificant (plus)
  • 100% evidence of a date rape cocktail of 6 drugs in her system (plus)
  • Ample evidence of a struggle in her room (plus)
  • The PJ’s she wore to bed completely gone from her room (plus)
  • All of her valuable jewelry missing from her room (plus)
  • A suspicious substance (bodily fluids), in minute spots on her chest & neck under black light (plus)
    • Shown in pictures the sheriffs took under the UV light at the crime scene
  • A suspicious substance (bodily fluids), in minute spots over what looks like an injection mark with a human BITE mark over it on the inside of her arm
    • Shown in pictures the sheriffs took under the UV light at the crime scene
  • Wounds on the top and bottom of her right hand (plus)
  • Three nails torn off her right hand (equals)
  • Body found in a completely different position then the position determined that she died in – body moved postmortem!
  • ZERO INVESTIGATION, NONE, NADA.

What if your daughter was murdered and no one cared? What would you do?  Could this possibly get any more pathetic? Of course it can, it is Garfield County isn’t it?

October 25, 2011 – Day 85 of Morgan’s stalking – what is the stalker doing out in the rain?

After her classes, Morgan came home, it was overcast and a storm was threatening, not quite snow yet, but a good electrical/ice storm.  Morgan made plans to Skype late with her friends, and then she left for Carbondale.  She had a date to cook with her dad tonight.  She wanted to learn just how to make his marinara sauce, so that someday in the future she could cook it for him, and she wanted me to let her know what time to be home for that.

Later in the day after I had talked with Steve, I called Morgan and told her that it sounded like 7:00 pm they would be were cooking.  She texted me at 6:30 pm and said, “On my way.”

Morgan and her father had a great time making dinner together, laughter and teasing, and after we all ate and cleaned up, Morgan went to her room.  I was sleeping, but then I got a single bubble text on my phone from Morgan – a rock on her window.  I wasn’t supposed to answer, I had promised I wouldn’t keep her awake for hours by running outside, calling the sheriff’s, etc. (she wanted to ignore it and get some sleep, but promised to send me a text bubble for my record keeping for the sheriffs), the problem was she had not done this for a while so I could not help myself and sent back three question marks.  Morgan told me, “Go to sleep!” I sent her a smiley face, and said, “What about you Missy?”  She answered, “I am.”  I couldn’t help myself, and sent her “What made you think I was awake?”  Morgan said “Stop texting me. I’m sleeping.”  I knew it was time to stop, and said, “Sorry.” with a sad face.

I started to get up, but Steve stopped me and said we will check in the morning.  I felt like it was something more that I should look at now, but stayed in bed anyway, staring at the ceiling.  Eventually I fell asleep for a while, and then I woke up, not knowing what time it was and got up anyway.  I think the rain woke us up, as Steve got up with me  and we cuddled on the bench, both looking at replays of the camera, wondering who in the world would be out in rain like this.

We could not find anything at the time Morgan sent the bubble, and I had given up an went back to bed when Steve called me back.  He had found something when reviewing the driveway camera from an hour later.  Someone was crouched behind the LR3 and a car was coming up the street, we could just catch the headlights.  The stalker was out of sight of the cameras, behind the car, no way to tell what he was doing, but the car coming up the street would expose him and caused a change in his plans, and he quickly stands up.  Now he is caught on camera, and he quickly goes from a crouched position to upright and runs off the driveway, and goes in front of the garage, again off of camera, probably ducking behind the bushes.  We talked with our neighbor who came home at that time and he did not see anyone in our driveway, he told us he really wasn’t looking, and the weather was very bad also.  He had heard about the stalker, and had no idea he was just outside of our house at all hours, but he said he would watch far more closely in the future.  Two very disturbing things to me about this video, first he is wearing the white shirt again, second it is freezing and raining out and he is not wearing a coat – what does that mean?  Does his  behavior seem to be escalating?

In this video he shows up right at the end, but you can see him stand up from his hiding spot, off camera, behind the car.

We checked out the car the next morning, after wondering what he was doing back there.  Was he putting something on, or taking something off?  We never found out.  We were cautioned that GPS tracking devices were small and inexpensive and easily attached to a car.  There was a concern that this is how the stalker always knew where Morgan was.   Steve had already been over the car and as far as he could tell there was nothing attached.  We checked with Detective Glassmire and he was not sure about what a GPS device would look like, but he knew that it was illegal, so if we did find one it would be helpful, and be sure to let him know if that should happen.  We wished Morgan’s stalker was one of those that left notes or flowers, something that the sheriffs were more familiar with, and they would know how to handle it – or would they?  But, it was becoming obvious to us that they were struggling with Morgan’s stalker.

Today its October 14, 2012 – It’s Sunday and the weekend has been pretty much constant reminders of how absolutely horrific this was to have lived through, and how people have a very understandably tough time grasping how it could have all happened.  Some people over the Internet have even said they’re not sure if Morgan had a stalker and they think I am just doing this blog to create suspense and write a book – wrong again!  I pray you never lose a child to a hateful frightening 4-month long stalking and then murder like this.  And I pray that you never have the authorities tell you they will not open an investigation to look into your child’s murder.  That is why I started this blog – yes, to get as much attention on this as possible and to try to get public pressure to make the authorities do the right thing.  So far that hasn’t happened so we are now, in the upcoming weeks, going to go national with this.

Steve and I lived it, and now we explain it over and over again. We ask ourselves, how this could have ever happened, not just the stalking, and Morgan’s murder, but even everything since then?  Just as in today’s blog the stalker is out in a freezing rain wearing a white shirt – AGAIN!  Who wears a white shirt while trying to hide out at night?  Morgan’s stalker does.  And that is just for starters.  What detective does not interview the person who heard the confession?  Morgan’s did.  What pathologist looks at an Amitriptyline level of 7909 ng/mL in a 115 pound woman and says it is insignificant?  Morgan’s did.

I assure you I was not ignoring the requests about all of the reports, I know they will become an important part of the truth, I just did not have the time, and believe it or not, emotionally there is a limit to what I can do.  Now I have some great help, and have been going through all of the reports.  In a great twist of irony the video system that struggled mightily to help us capture the stalker is having a much easier time catching what really happened after Morgan was killed.  It was left on for two days after her death, and what has been put in a signed report, they do have to sign them still, don’t they seems to differ from what the camera actually recorded.  Well signed or not, when these reports are compared with what appears on video that will tell another story and I don’t think the camera is able to lie.  Then there are the reports LE released and then the ones you have to specially request, and that so far is also telling another story.  I will release them all once I have had a chance to comment, and corroborate my comments to the extent that is possible.  The one thing Steve, and I have going for us is that the truth does not change, and it will still be there waiting when we get to it, and that we always count on.
