“Obstruction of Justice” is a crime that should be applied to those who fail to do all in their power to resolve crimes when they clearly have the ability to.

Please read this – there is something you can do to help.  Right now there seems to be no oversight in our government.  Things can get approved to help our citizens and then people in power can sit back and refuse to be compelled to do what is expected.  This is OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE!  We need to use our voices – please write, call, use your voice.  If enough people stand up like our forefathers did we can make this country great again…we can protect our families from repeat offenders.

The following was written by Robert Wells, Families of Homicide and Missing Persons out of Colorado https://www.facebook.com/FOHVAMP/?fref=nf and their website is http://www.unresolvedhomicides.org

I just returned from another trip to our nations Capital regarding a cold case homicide database. The FBI started VICAP about 25 years ago, the Violent Criminal Apprehension Program. You can read about the database at ; https://www.fbi.gov/news/stories/2008/august/vicap_080408

This is a repository that includes cold homicide cases, however, it is voluntary. No one is required to report to it, participate with it, and it is only for law enforcement and no portion is open to general public access such as our Colorado database. Only 3,800 agencies have used it to date. It is a great start, but until the U.S. Congress compels all law enforcement agencies in every State and Territory to participate, it falls well short of our expectations, let alone our national needs.

ViCAP also offers additional assistance to its partners—including multi-agency coordination efforts, investigative support, case management help, crime mapping, case series matrices, and on-scene case assistance.

Evolving ViCAP access. Back in 1985, ViCAP information sat on a mainframe computer in Quantico, Virginia, accessible only to FBI personnel. Users usually submitted their case information to them through the mail.

In the short-term, the FBI states, law enforcement agencies will reap the benefits of this new and improved ViCAP. In the long-term, it’s the American public—kept safer from violent criminals—who will benefit.

For myself and others, this is the system that can house a mandatory reporting requirement for all law enforcement to report unresolved homicides to, on top of the other violent crimes the database addresses. The issue of additional funds for the project that is a continual discussion, becomes only a matter of data entry personnel who put this data into an already existing system. The only other issue we feel strongly about is this;

The general Public should be able to access a “front Door” portion of the system in order to look up their cases or cases of interest for general information and a primary point of contact with law enforcement should anyone wish to assist these cold cases with new information. Law Enforcement can then use a “Law Enforcement Only” access to review more detailed information on their case of interest. In this mobile society of today, a murderer from Colorado can be the neighbor of someone in Maryland, and in turn murderers from other States can be our next door neighbors right here in Colorado. Given our 1800 unresolved homicides and long term missing persons in Colorado alone, that’s over 1800 murderers living among us. When you look at the National Unresolved Homicide numbers (which are only estimates as we truly have only a very general idea to date) the figures are staggering. NPR reports one third of all homicides remain unresolved.

http://www.npr.org/…/open-cases-why-one-third-of-murders-in…

The following link gives you homicide rates from FBI Crime Statistics since 1950. Try doing the math, its unbelievable.

http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0873729.html

Please write your Congressman and Senator requesting that our U.S. Congress legislate the law enforcement reporting requirements that the State of Colorado has enacted for the reporting of cold case homicide and missing persons.

Your help will be greatly appreciated!

Finally, given the new tax revenues enjoyed in the State of Colorado, it is long overdue that Colorado fund the already passed cold case team for the Colorado Bureau of investigations. Again, lets pick up the phones and begin to write our State legislators and encourage them to fund what they have already passed. The funding of a Colorado cold case team housed at CBI. Contact us for more information if your interested in helping this cause!

A closing thought…For me, “obstruction of justice” is a crime that should be applied to those who fail to do all in their power to resolve crimes when they clearly have the ability to. The Governor of Florida vetoing a bill funding a cold case task force passed by the legislature there comes to mind…or not funding a cold case team for Colorado that has already be legislated.

Just a thought…

Since 1985, our Violent Criminal Apprehension Program, or ViCAP, has linked an untold number of seemingly unrelated violent crime investigations…and helped state and local law enforcement solve many of those cases.

A Truly Wonderful Organization – FOHVAMP

Families of Homicide Victims and Missing Persons (FOHVAMP) is a truly amazing organization – one that has continually helped us in our quest for justice for our daughter Morgan. They are a nonprofit out of Colorado, a tax-exempt organization under the Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service. Federal Tax I.D.# 84-1605076.

I know every dollar they receive is put to good use helping many, many families trying to find justice for their loved ones, just as we have been trying these past 4 years.  Please consider going online to their website’s donation page http://www.unresolvedhomicides.org/you-can-help/ and click to make a tax deductible donation – it would be extremely helpful to so many families trying to find justice for their loved ones.  Even a $1 donation, when combined with others, adds up.  Or if you like you can mail a check to:

FOHVAMP, P.O. Box 21602, Denver, CO 80221

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to let Kelly know.  Here is her contact information:

Colorado has a backlog of over 1,800 unsolved murders dating back to 1970. The killers of these victims have never been prosecuted for these murders. They walk among us. They live in our neighborhoods. These murderers, who have escaped justice, pose a serious threat to the safety of every Colorado citizen.  Since 2001 FOHVAMP has advocated for the families of cold case homicide victims and persons missing under suspicious circumstances in Colorado. By bringing together families and friends united by a common tragedy, FOHVAMP mentors these individuals seeking justice for their loved ones.

I strongly believe if you ask enough questions you will eventually get to the truth of the matter.  There is not a case out there that can’t be solved – these families need resolution, and the public needs to make sure these cases are solved so these murderers no longer are allowed to reoffend.

We all love our families and want to protect them – solving murders, and stopping a killer will always make our world a little safer…and really who wouldn’t want that?

Thanking you in advance for making a difference.

Beware the psychopath…

Doesn’t this sound familiar?  Sure sounds like the ones that stalked and murdered Morgan!

“Since psychopaths wallow in seediness, cruelty and perversion, they enjoy not only lying, but also waving their lies under the noses of the people they dupe.”

“When he/she gets away a lie, he/she feels a cheap thrill. When caught in a lie, he/she feels no shame. He/she simply covers it up with another lie or, when that’s not an option, blames you for his/her wrongdoing or accuses you of behaving in the same manner. ”

“Psychopaths lie pathologically to others about pretty much everything: their past, their present and their future. Whatever lies you discover about the psychopath in your life are likely to be just the tip of the iceberg.”

“Needless to say, in reality, engaging in deception and manipulation are not a sign of excess of intelligence. They’re a symptom of lack of character.”

“Once you see through his lack of character, his/her reactions also become transparent.” Claudia Moscovici, psychopathyawareness

Ultimate Obsession…

In a story that you may have heard about in the news – an American woman named Ashley Olsen was murdered in Italy.  The first time I heard about this was last night.  I received the information from another victim.  The victim I have been in contact with is an American citizen (like Ashley), but she was attacked in the United States, also in her own home.  But like Ashley she was attacked by a person that was not a US citizen, a person from another country that has still been allowed to reside in this country.  These stories are similar in many ways.  Without getting into it I would just like to say I believe both of these women were targeted.

The first article I pulled up about the Ashley Olsen case was this article by Fox6Now,

Italian media: Ashley Olsen, American artist killed in Italy may have been strangled with cord or rope

http://fox6now.com/2016/01/12/italian-media-ashley-olsen-american-artist-killed-in-italy-may-have-been-strangled-with-cord-or-rope/

In this article they mention that authorities are also looking into pictures on Olsen’s Instagram feed in which she said, “I have a stalker.” From this article it sounds like this was a very violent death.

Then this morning there were all kinds of news feeds that there has been an arrest – here is an article by CNN:

Man arrested in connection with death of American woman in Italy: Prosecutor http://www.cnn.com/2016/01/14/europe/italy-american-woman-ashley-olsen-dead/index.html?eref=rss_topstories

A photograph released by Italian police of suspect Cheikh Tidiane Diaw.

Police believe that Olsen and Diaw, an illegal immigrant from Senegal, met at the city’s Montecarla nightclub and left to go back to Olsen’s place together, where they had consensual sex.  This is where I would like to interject…the victim Ashley Olsen is dead and can not speak about what really happened to her, so is there a possibility that (like in the case above that happened in the US) she did allow this person to come home with her, but did not want to have sex, and that is why she was attacked and murdered?  Was she targeted?  It is really upsetting to me when I hear that a suspect claims to have had consensual sex with a victim because authorities have found his DNA.  Sometimes that may be true, and other times it isn’t even close to the truth…that is what an investigation is for.  Not just a surface scratching of the information kind of investigation, but a real in-depth investigation, because when it comes to murder the victim deserves just that.

Here is another story about a female stalker that just got 50 years in prison, and here I ask the question, “Is 50 years really enough?”  There are many cases of extremely lethal, obsessed stalkers.

Woman Who Stalked, Killed Ex-Boyfriend Gets 50 Years to Life in Prison.  The ultimate obsession and yes, just as in Morgan’s case obsessed stalkers can and sometimes do commit murder.

Saudades…a message from Brazil

typingLast night I received a message through this website & this is what it said:

Hello! I’m from Brazil. I heard about Morgan’s case right now through ID channel.
I’m so sorry about her. She’s beatiful girl, smile and she have a amazing spirit. Yes, she Is, because she’s alive trough The strength of yours and justice must be done . you guys do not give up.
There must be someone out there who knows something else. Someone close to her. I’ll pray for you find out a evidence, a link , something.

Saudades – Brazilian expression to say: I’m miss you, but something more than this.

Keep faith, you know her better than anyone.

Peace.

Ps. I’m so sorry about my poor english. Patricia

I was very moved by this when I read it. I had never heard of this word before, but it seemed to touch on how I have felt for a very long time.

From the moment I knew Morgan was no longer with us I had this extremely strong feeling come over me…in fact I started to tell people what I was feeling that very morning.  My first thought, of course, was disbelief.  I wanted a reset button to make it all go away and turn the clock back to the day before – when Morgan was still alive.  I yearned to have her back and did not want to give in to the understanding that she was no longer with us.  Then my next feeling, a very strong feeling, as though I was receiving a message from someone, I “felt” that Morgan was okay and bathed in white light and love, that she is still there, I just could not see her. I “knew” I would see her again, I could “feel” that she was still on her journey, and she was going to still be around to help with what was going to come next.  I had no idea what that meant.  I could not even comprehend at that time what was going to happen. and then I “felt” that I had to remember everything, because there was meaning to what had just happened…it was going to change many lives and save many people. Maybe I was “seeing” Morgan’s legacy.

Saudades – It can, yes, be used for the feeling of missing a dear person who has passed away, but It is also a “bittersweet (…) yearning and hopefulness towards something over which one has no control” (same wikipedia article). In that sense, it’s also the hopeful yearning of someone (or something, a place for example) which you know you’ll see again but, can’t right now. by Helder Ribeiro, Native Brazilian Portuguese speaker.
