Stalker’s Attorneys…Worried About Their Client’s “Criminal Exposure”

Important things to know about your stalker:

~ YOUR STALKER WILL LIE ~

Sounds deceptively simple, doesn’t it? Of course he or she would lie; they are committing a crime in all 50 states in the U.S.  I am now a Victim’s Advocate –  I work with stalking victims, and not once, while suspects are being investigated, have I ever heard the stalker admit that he/she was stalking the victim. Actually, quite the opposite – they make up all kinds of reasons why they are not stalking the victim. I did hear once about a stalker confessing, after being shown by law enforcement that they had strong evidence against him…and if he would just walk away and leave his victim alone, they would not take criminal action against him…talk to any expert on stalking, and you will hear that this is NOT an effective stalking protocol.

The detective assigned to my daughter, Morgan’s felony stalking case (who is now the coroner of Garfield County), Detective Rob Glassmire, told us, “When a suspect lies to us (i.e., the sheriffs), there is absolutely nothing we can do about it.”  Wow, sounds like law enforcement’s hands would be permanently tied if all detectives thought like that.

In Morgan’s case, obviously there was never an admission by the stalkers. Quite the opposite. As the first anniversary of her murder approached, Keenan’s lawyer (Keenan Vanginkel, who is listed as the “Suspect” on all the police reports) would not let him go on national TV because “The risk of criminal exposure was far too great.”

On the record, in court, Brooke Harris’ lawyer, Jonathan Shamis (who was quoting Keenan’s lawyer), said that Keenan could not be interviewed or on the Dr. Phil show about Morgan’s stalking and suspicious death because the “criminal exposure” was far too great. That one quote both floored me and spoke volumes about just who the alleged guilty party was in Morgan’s murder – Keenan.

As Brooke’s lawyer was speaking to a judge about why Keenan would not be on the national show, he explained why Brooke had to go, and also how he had to go with her to protect her from criminal exposure! I am not making this up – It’s all in the court records. 

But we aren’t supposed to conclude that both suspects – Brooke Harris and Keenan Vanginkel, had criminal lawyers closely guarding their every move.

Putting my own opinions aside, you can draw your own conclusions from what Keenan did say when he did go on national TV years later. “Every time the Ingrams called the sheriff, I (Keenan) was on camera at City Market.”

I know what he said on national TV is not true – it was another BIG LIE, a FALSE NARRATIVE, and to prove it, I simply picked six incidents of stalking at our home at 62 Corral Drive, in Carbondale, Colorado. I picked six times because they had the time recorded by a surveillance DVR or other provable events. And many months after Morgan’s death, we were finally given Keenan’s work hours and could plainly see it was a lie.

Why would Keenan lie? About something so easily proven to be a lie? Most likely because he thinks no one will go to all the trouble to prove he is lying and he is right…it’s easier for everyone, including law enforcement to turn a blind eye.   Why would a stalker lie about his stalking? Why would a murderer lie about murder? Maybe that is exactly why his lawyer would not let him go on national TV back in 2012; maybe she knew he could not stop himself from lying.

Now the statute of limitations is over for Morgan’s stalking, but not for her murder. Murder is a capital crime, and there is NO statute of limitations on murder!  

The clock is still ticking, TICK TOCK, TICK TOCK, and we are still coming for all those involved in the murder and cover-up of our daughter’s murder. #JUSTICEFORMORGAN

The Lies of a Stalker…

Morgan’s stalker, Keenan Vanginkel, yes, I can say that- because his name is all over the police reports as the “suspect” in her felony stalking case, and yet he went on a TV show and blatantly LIED on camera. If the producers of that show had even done just a little investigating, like reading the actual police reports, they would have known it was a lie…but alas, they did not. A lot in the media these days only want to sell their shows, so they want the quick and easy show to support their narrative. They don’t care about the truth.

He said that once the sheriffs saw that his employment required a fingerprint ID to clock in and out of work, they could see he was at work when all the incidents of stalking occurred…what a lie! 

The first part of his statement is correct: his employer did require a fingerprint ID to clock in and out of work…this in fact, corroborates the fact that he was NOT at work during the stalking incidents and Morgan’s murder.

I am sure some people believed him, but what they didn’t hear was the truth. Let’s unpack his statement…first, think about it: how would he know when the over 50 incidents of stalking happened if he was not involved? Secondly, his hours were not received by the sheriff’s until AFTER Morgan was killed. Then, 5 months after his work hours were compared to the stalking incidents, the detective brought Keenan into the sheriff’s interrogation room and tried to get him to admit to the stalking. When I watched the video of that interrogation, he was jittery, scratching himself, jumpy, and when told about the evidence, he still denied it was him. What a shock, right? A guilty person denying his guilt…that NEVER happens, right? I guess in some cases, if the suspect doesn’t confess, there is no crime.

So, the truth is that the sheriff’s received his work hours AFTER Morgan was killed, and when compared to the stalking incidents, they supported that he had no alibi for the dates and times of the stalking. The hours showed the stalking took place before and after his work hours, not during those work hours. His employment was less than a ten-minute drive from our house, and he mostly worked the graveyard shift, which gave him a great opportunity to stalk under the cloak of darkness.

He usually stalked on his way to work…so many lies from him and his supporters over the years, but facts don’t lie. We have the facts in black and white, as well as the horrific pictures of what was done to Morgan, including pictures of her body.

Morgan was stalked and then attacked, only days before she was scheduled to testify on camera, and the sheriff’s detective said they were planning on making an arrest.

Unfortunately, the suspect knew this was going to happen, as the detective told them that week, just before the murder. I think he wanted to scare him into confessing or stopping; I’m not quite sure…but this was not a good strategy.

 When a victim of stalking is going to move away, or about to appear as a witness, those are the most dangerous and vulnerable times for the victim. I wish we had known that at that time. 

At that time, the sheriff’s detective informed us that he believed the stalking would escalate. That was only 2 days before her murder.  We were upset and scared, but had no idea what that meant…now we know. I honestly don’t think that the detective had any idea the stalker would kill Morgan. Unfortunately, many do not understand the lethal turn that stalking can, and sometimes does, take.

I write these things in the hope that another victim may learn from Morgan’s story, and our mistakes. I have heard from so many victims over the years, since I have been writing this blog – so many victims thanking me and saying that what they read helped them in their ordeal, to get away from their stalker, or have that stalker arrested. Every single time I hear this, I get a warm feeling inside, and my heart becomes happy…this is Morgan’s legacy.

But empowerment without safety is incomplete.
If your daughter says she is scared — believe her.
If your friend says someone won’t stop contacting them — take it seriously.
If you are in leadership — advocate for stronger policies and awareness programs.
We need:
✔ National databases that connect stalking incidents
✔ Education in schools about stalking behaviors
✔ Better cross-agency communication
✔ Expanded safe housing resources
✔ Community awareness campaigns
This is not just a legal issue.
It is a cultural issue.
And culture changes when leaders speak.
Toni’s courage to relive her loss publicly is not for attention — it is for prevention.
She does not want another mother to stand where she stands.
This post is not meant to be comfortable.
It is meant to wake you up.
Stalking is real.
It is escalating.
It is deadly.
And ignoring it does not make it disappear.

More Detail About The 1st Picture Of The Stalker

There was a huge response to the blog I released titled Comparison of the Stalker Caught in the Driveway…it is the blog that shows a collage of pictures I was given of James Harris (Brooke’s father) from his appearance on the Dr. Phil show.  The picture in the middle was taken the very first night we hung our new wildlife camera outside over our front porch. This is a comparison that someone sent to me after watching the Dr. Phil show.

Let me know your thoughts about this comparison.

One reader wrote in to me, “This is the dad, right? Not the kid? So, there were multiple ppl?”  My answer was, “Yes, there were multiple people involved. We have been told that the stalking of our family was a “gang stalking.”

Then another person wrote in, “Oh my God, the way he holds his neck! Posture and size, and shape of face! I have goosebumps! Too much of a coincidence.. WOW”  I answered her by saying, “That is exactly what the supporter that sent this to me said…the morning after this picture was caught on the wildlife camera, our neighbor Elliott said he knew everyone in the subdivision and the picture only matched the body style of 3 people, one of which was an old man that subsequently was ruled out because he was out of town during most of the incidents of stalking, and the other 2 were Keenan Vanginkel (the main suspect), and James Harris, Brooke’s father (shown here in the pictures).  James, Brooke & Keenan all lived together in a house just 3 houses down from us when the stalking started in August of 2011. Morgan was shocked to hear Keenan had moved in with James & Brooke only weeks before the stalking started – she did not know him, but knew of him, and was creeped out by him.  We had never seen him around the neighborhood, and now Morgan was concerned.  Morgan also did not like Brooke and knew she was a bully who had it out for Morgan, with a violent temper, and she avoided Brooke’s father James as much as possible, because she thought he was very strange and creepy.  So, knowing these two had taken Keenan in to live with them, and now all 3 of them were living only three houses down from us at the time of the stalking, really concerned Morgan.  Morgan was very intuitive, but at the time I was trying to give everyone the benefit of the doubt…that was my first big mistake.

And yet another person, after seeing the photo collage, wrote, “Wow. Just wow.”  My answer was, “I know, that is exactly how I reacted when I saw this compilation of pictures that was sent to me. The woman that put it together is brilliant and very intuitive, and her husband is a retired detective from back east.”

The interesting thing is the “spin” some people try to put on everything I share, including this picture.  I guess it is important for some to try and convince people that I am lying – they must have their reasons for trying to fool folks.  Makes me wonder what their motives really are…we call these people “The Others.”
I have been told by people, those who connect with me privately through this website, that one of the crazy things these “anonymous” people say is that the time the sheriffs have written in their report were at an earlier time than the picture, but the picture in our driveway is time stamped with a later time, so it couldn’t be related.  How ridiculous is that statement?  We did call dispatch when the bang on the window happened, then we had to wait until the 3 officers arrived, then the 3 officers searched the area for the stalker, all that took time, but again they did not find the stalker, so, they came back to our house, came in and spoke with us for a while, departed our house (see the series of 3 photos the camera recorded, they are all time stamped – click on the short link below. In the first picture, it shows the sheriffs leaving our house after searching the neighborhood and not seeing the stalker(s), then the 2nd picture shows the stalker watching the sheriff’s vehicles departing the neighborhood, then the 3rd picture shows the camera spinning, plausibly because the stalker was trying to knock it down…a little red light blinks when the picture is taken, so, he most likely was caught off guard (it was the first time the camera had been deployed). We were shocked when we viewed these pictures, as were the officers, after we called them back to our house and showed them the photos from the memory chip in the camera.  In fact they were really angry and proceeded to search under all the vehicles, behind all the bushes, around the whole neighborhood again for the stalker, then return back to our house again to tell us their theory about how the stalker could be eluding them.  They believed the stalker lived in our neighborhood and that is why they hadn’t been able to catch him. Steve and I were happy the camera caught a picture of the person stalking and terrorizing Morgan, but we were also furious and even more concerned at this point seeing the total lack of fear this person had towards law enforcement.  HE WAS OBVIOUSLY THUMBING HIS NOSE AT LAW ENFORCEMENT!
We still had no idea as to how to catch this person, but we thought we could.  Just like so many others in this situation, you react to what is happening as it happens.  We had never had to worry about protecting our daughter from sick, evil people before.  We had a protocol that we kept adding to day by day.  Pepper spray, baseball bat, mag light, motion alarms, motion cameras, motion lights, raking and water the ground for fresh footprints (we did this as per the sheriffs request, I have no idea why as they would never cast any of the footprints).  Morgan, in the next few weeks went quietly about taking her bed mattress off it’s frame and putting her mattress directly on the floor, taking her mirror off her wall and placing that on the floor as well.  She didn’t want the stalker to hide under her bed or peer in her upper clearstory window and see her reflection in her mirror. Then she started cutting up and sewing a dark maroon flannel sheet to hang over her existing window treatments on her windows, so they would have double coverage.  So, now her clearstory windows at the very top were also covered.  I asked her why she was doing that, because surely, no one could see in that high up unless they were flying through the sky, or up on our next door neighbors roof…she told me she just felt safer with them covered.  I believe Morgan was a lot smarter, and more intuitive than I was back then.  Putting her bed on the floor so no one could hide under it was a very intelligent.  Since her murder I have been contacted by a sheriff in another state that has helped us out – she told me about her friend’s young 13-year-old daughter who had a stalker.  That stalker had been hiding under her bed sending her text messages – luckily this person was ultimately caught before this your girl was attacked.
