I am sharing the following reel (link below) from SPARC (SPARC – Stalking Prevention, Awareness & Resource Center).

A Little Peak Into Who Morgan Was…

Morgan was many things. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, niece, and granddaughter, and a fiercely loyal friend. She was an artist, a pianist, a singer, a photographer, and a budding philosopher. She taught herself to knit and crochet, baked amazing desserts, and loved animals. She cared so lovingly for her dog, cat, bird, ferrets, and horse.

The picture above is something Morgan and her longtime friend Bryan created together, even though they were miles apart. She showed it to me about a month before her death, giggling as she explained it. At first, I couldn’t understand how they had made the same drawing without seeing each other’s work.

They had decided to create a pastel drawing together: Morgan made one half, and Bryan made the other. It was their way of staying connected through art while they were apart. They figured out how to make it work. That little drawing says so much to me about who Morgan was. She found joy in creating and sharing something with a friend. She was such a bright light in my life and in the lives of so many others.

I miss her more than words can say. My heart aches for her every day, and I know it will for as long as I live. What keeps me going is the belief, deep in my soul, that when my time on this earth is over, I will see her again. I will hold her tight and kiss her forehead. We will be together again, and my heart will no longer ache.

Dragonfly Cry – A Song About Morgan’s Case

This beautiful rock was painted by my good friend Kali. She listened to the song “Dragonfly Cry” by Sarah Afshar (see below) and was inspired to paint it. When I received it today, I was so touched. I had chills running up and down my spine, which usually means I need to pay attention, as this is a sign. Between both of these beautiful souls, Kali & Sarah, I am again fiercely determined to continue the fight for justice for Morgan!

The following is a link to the haunting song “Dragonfly Cry” by Sarah Afshar. I became friends with Sarah about 9 months after my daughter Morgan’s stalking and murder. Sarah became very involved in trying to raise awareness in Morgan’s case and was hugely supportive. Now, almost 15 years later, Sarah is still passionate about finding justice for Morgan, and I believe she is right when she says the scales will tip someday…

National Day of Rememberance for Murder Victims – September 25

POMC – The National Organization of Parents of Murdered Children posted this on their website yesterday: https://www.pomc.org/uncategorized/national-day-of-remembrance/?utm_source=copilot.com

Yesterday, Friday, September 25, I lit a candle for Morgan and for every person whose life was taken by murder. I thought about the people who loved them, too: the parents, children, partners, siblings, and friends who are left trying to live with a loss that never should have happened.

When someone you love is murdered, the shock can be hard to put into words. You may feel numb one moment and overwhelmed the next. Your mind may go over what happened again and again, even when you desperately want to remember the person you loved as they lived. A sound, a place, or a small detail can bring it all rushing back.

And then some people make that pain worse. Strangers online may speculate, blame the victim, or attack the family without knowing anything about them. Families should never have to defend themselves while grieving someone they love.

There is no neat timeline for this kind of grief. Some days you can manage what needs to be done. Other days, the weight of it catches you off guard. I know that lighting a candle cannot change what happened to Morgan or bring anyone’s loved one home. But yesterday, I wanted their families to know they were in my thoughts. Their loved ones matter. Their lives matter. And those left behind deserve compassion and support.
