I Was Never Given A Choice…

I wasn’t given a choice, so I had to be strong…and now I want to create hope for the future. Change can be made, so another young woman like Morgan, and another family like ours, won’t have to suffer the same devastating pain that all of us have had to endure.

The day I found Morgan’s body I begged for a re-set button, but of course I wasn’t given one. When reality sunk in, and I knew Morgan was really gone forever, I had to make a choice…should I curl up into a ball and give up on life all together? That’s exactly what my body wanted to do…I felt that I had failed her,  and I was not going to be given a second chance to get her far, far away from her stalker(s). I was weak and tired and nothing really mattered any longer.

As a parent you go through life with an intense desire to keep your children safe from harm, and when you fail to keep them safe you carry that guilt for the rest of your life, because it was your job, and you failed. No one in this world can talk you out of that feeling of guilt.

The second option I had was to try to figure out all the missing pieces of what had really happened to my daughter – did she really die from natural causes as the pathologist kept insisting, or was she the victim of a homicide, as other experts thought, or did she commit suicide, because she felt helpless to stop her stalker(s) and could no longer handle it?

The easiest path for me as a parent was to blindly accept the pathologist’s finding of natural causes and ignore all the false statements and red flags, especially after being threatened to “back off” from questioning natural causes or else it could be changed to “suicide.” But that wasn’t my choice. Then after not backing off and seeing the change to “suicide” it would have been easier to just accept that manner of death, as even that was easier than the thought that my daughter had been terrorized, sexually assaulted and violently murdered – no parent wants to believe that…but unfortunately that was what the facts kept showing me – it made me sick to my stomach to keep having to face it every day, but considering what Morgan went through I was not about to feel sorry for myself.

Of course now, after reading this blog from the beginning https://morgansstalking.com/?p=389, you know the path I chose was to never give up in my search for answers and justice.

It would have been so much easier to curl up and become a ghost, but I couldn’t do it…I had to find answers. So, yes it has been excruciatingly painful to wake up every morning for 7 years and investigate my own daughter’s murder, it is horrifying to look at pictures of her dead body and see evidence that the officials decided to overlook and cover-up in what I now believe was a capital crime, but that is the path I chose, and amazingly, because I chose that path, I have been given so many indisputable facts over these 7 years that I now believe the pain was worth it…I know there will be justice for Morgan…when and where I do not know, but I know it’s coming.

New piece of evidence…

NEW EVIDENCE

Trying to solve your own daughter’s murder, without the help of law enforcement, has been like trying to put together a giant puzzle, with all those little puzzle pieces (evidence and facts) floating around above our heads, and every once in a while the right “piece” of that puzzle falls into place to help create the true picture of the crime.

Releasing any information about the evidence we have in Morgan’s case is a big decision – we get advice all the time that we shouldn’t release all the evidence – and we haven’t, and we won’t, but here is just another little piece that should be known. In most cases it is usually the sheriffs or police that are withholding key pieces of evidence, that only the killer would know, but in our case we didn’t have sheriff’s involved in investigating, so we’re the ones doing the investigating – we are the ones that have to be careful NOT to release all the evidence, so that one day, when Morgan’s murder case goes to trial, there will still be a chance for a prosecution.

It was a long time before we’d realize that it was up to us to investigate. We faced that harsh reality, that we have so painfully come to know – if Morgan is to receive justice one day, it is truly up to us, her family, to do the investigating. And with that in mind I would like to share this one piece of evidence, that we previously have not released…note the date and time on the picture when you follow the link below. Steve and I had just mounted a new wildlife camera above our back patio, and the next day it was no longer working (that should have been a clue to us). But on the day we hung it, September 26th, it was working, as you can see. Detective Glassmire had just come over to our house, arriving just before 5:00 pm. It was the first day we would meet him, as he had just taken over our felony stalking case. It had been 56 days since the start of this horrific stalking, and we finally had a Garfield County sheriff assigned to our case. http://morganingram.com/ wordpress/?p=1346 He asked us to walk him through the house, and all around the outside of the house, so we could all discuss the stalking events that had been happening since August 2nd. This picture just happened to be captured and preserved, showing the downed gutter at that time.

As we explained to the detective, this piece of gutter had fallen from our roof, right where the Aspen tree is located – the tree that we now know was used by the stalker as a ladder to climb onto our roof. This picture tells a story – it’s easy to look back now and get a far more complete picture of that story. If you read the timeline on my blog, you will read about the detective being at our house, but you will not read about this piece of gutter hanging down off the house, or the truth behind just this one tiny piece of evidence, that we still have waiting for the day when Morgan receives justice.

On this corner of the house, where the Aspen tree is, and the gutter was torn off, is the exact spot where the path that was worn into the berm behind our house that led right to that Aspen tree! http:// morganingram.com/wordpress/?p=744 and it is also where the motion light kept coming on and off, but by the time we looked out no one was there…of course they weren’t – they were on the roof by then. So you can now imagine, every time someone climbed up that tree, and grabbed hold of the roof, they were grabbing on to that piece of gutter. After so many times that corner metal piece of gutter was grabbed, it obviously snapped off from the stress of being bent and fell to the ground, still attached to the part that was attached to the roof.

Three weeks before we discovered this torn gutter had fallen to the ground, our other wildlife camera, in the front of our house, had taken a picture of one of the stalkers in our driveway, leaning against Steve’s truck, watching the sheriffs drive away. http:// morganingram.com/wordpress/?p=845 Ask any stalking task force officer, and they will tell you a stalker that is not fearful of law enforcement, and “taunts” them, as this stalker was doing, is the most dangerous type of stalker. Law enforcement needed to use a swift and effective stalking protocol to stop this stalker…but they did not.

If Detective Glassmire had asked the suspect, to assume the pose that is seen in the wildlife camera picture, and if he had compared him to that picture, I think there may have been a different ending to this story. I don’t think that would have been too much to ask. If the detective really wanted to have an effective intervention to stop Morgan’s stalking, but that never happened.

We have so many pieces of documented evidence that the sheriffs were aware of, but never pursued…and then it was too late. Too late for Morgan and too late for our family…Morgan lost her life and our lives will never be the same.

So a realization for me that I would like to share with you is this…if you are being stalked, and you feel like you are under siege, like we were, always do whatever it takes to protect yourself, keep a very detailed timeline, call the police every single time there is an incident, get yourself to a safe, unknown location, BUT don’t forget, make sure you ask for a copy of every report, and make sure there is a report. Look over the report and make sure what really happened has been written up in that report. If law enforcement is not doing this for you then you must then go speak with the District Attorney. If your stalking case ever does go to trial all these “little things” may add up to a really big picture that you just didn’t realize at the time. So many unusual things were happening to us during this stalking – we felt like we were under attack, and yet we were trying to keep living, hoping all the time that it would just stop, or that we would be moving out soon, we thought we could live with it until then…this was a very fatal way for us to have thought – please do not make the same mistake that we did. Any day can be your last day – we know that now. If you are being stalked, please learn from our mistakes, if you know anyone being stalked please share this information with them…by raising awareness you could be saving a life. Thank you so much!

“NOT GONE…JUST NOT HERE,” RICH MARTINI

“Persian poet, Sufi philosopher, and Muslim scholar Rumi — full name Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi, though “Rumi” is actually Persian shorthand for “Rome,” or “West” — Rumi was born in 1207, and has long since influenced artists and thinkers with his insightful poetry and prose.”

Rumi was one of Morgan’s favorite philosophers. Morgan became a philosophy major in college because she truly enjoyed learning.  “Philosophy” comes from Greek words meaning “love of wisdom.”

Thank you Denise Crowley for designing this poster for Morgan with the quote from Rumi. #JUSTICEFORMORGAN2019!
