#Stalking & #Murder with NO Investigation!

AT 7:00 PM

Tonight the episode on the Discovery ID mini series “Suspicion” will show a dramatization of Morgan’s stalking & terrorization at 7:00 PM Pacific Time (check your local listings.)

Stalking is defined as the “willful, malicious, and repeated following or harassing of another person.”  You become hyper vigilant – never knowing when your stalker will show up or what dangers you may face.  Your life is never the same.  You may feel helpless and powerless at times.

First we have to warn parents of stalking victims, as well as the victims that are being stalked. All the cameras we put up could not protect Morgan, all the motion detector alarms & motion lights we put out could not protect Morgan, the sheriff’s could not protect Morgan. Our cameras were not pointed at our doors, they were pointed away from our doors in order to capture a clear picture of her stalker(s) face(s)…remember we were trying to build a case to stop her stalking, we never thought her stalker would actually enter our home…we were seriously and deadly wrong!  Stalkers do get in.

There has been no investigation into Morgan’s death, or any connection to what was her ongoing and escalating stalking – how could this be we asked? Jewelry had been stolen from her room. Her sheets, pajamas, drivers license and more were all taken the night she was killed, but no investigation. A year after her death we would learn a date rape cocktail was put into her stomach after she was dead, but no investigation. Two years after her death we would learn that her body had been redressed and posed after she was dead. We also learned that any evidence that was collected had been destroyed despite all the assurances that it would be kept forever. How could this be we asked?

Within minutes of his arrival at Morgan’s death scene, the felony stalking detective was certain there was absolutely no connection to her stalking, her death was a mystery, he even told us “There is no more Morgan so there is no more stalker.” Is this logical?  Is this all it takes to cover up a murder and let a murderer go free? More than shocking – this is really frightening!

Morgan’s death was first said to be from natural causes, strongly defended by those standing in for the Coroner – the sheriffs said there was no chance of foul play so no investigation needed! They would not follow up on any evidence or tips that were coming in.  And then her doctors told us this was all wrong, Morgan’s death was not natural causes, it was a homicide, they knew, but when we told the Coroner’s stand in we were threatened to stop all questions or Morgan’s death could be changed to a suicide. Shocking? Of course we reported this, but our reports of the threats were not taken seriously, just as Morgan’s stalking was never taken seriously. So Morgan was assaulted and killed by her stalker and nine months later she became a suicide – it was absolutely heartbreaking and wrong.  The pain of not being able to keep our youngest daughter safe was now being compounded with the knowledge that no one in the county cared about justice for our daughter.

For Morgan’s death to be even considered a suicide should have been impossible given all the evidence that completely leaves no explanation except the presence of at least one assailant, and very possibly more. But evidence hasn’t mattered much to Garfield County in Morgan’s death.

Morgan’s memory was forever tarnished because we chose not to heed the threats and fight on, but it was more than just for Morgan, it was for all the other women who could become victims at this stalkers hands, as Morgan had. She suffered a horrible death and it was impossible to imagine another young woman facing the same thing.  For our family there was just no possibility we could give up our quest for justice.

Uncovering the truth has not been easy. That we were lied to about Morgan is without question now. In fact the only remaining question is why. Often we are told about the lack of resources and incompetence of small sheriff’s departments, about how Colorado is the worst state when it comes to completely botching investigations. but these are not an acceptable excuses, not for a second. Morgan’s case was called a felony stalking by everyone connected with it, but later, in her official police report, not one official refers to it as a stalking. Doesn’t that sound suspicious to you?

Here is a case in which Morgan was stalked relentlessly for four months, we had pictures, video, footprints, audio of the banging on her windows, proof he was leaning over the roofs edge ogling Morgan through her window, witnesses to the threats against Morgan by his accomplice – and on and on – yet none of it was ever taken seriously and yes the sheriffs did see and did have all that evidence plus much more. In a little over a year her felony stalking case was no more than a misdemeanor trespassing, no peeping tom, no eavesdropping, no attempted entry, no theft, no burglary, and certainly not a stalking. So we ask, if officials are intent on pretending it never happened then just how safe is the next victim, and we will answer – not safe at all.

Morgan’s investigation now falls to parents fighting for Morgan’s legacy, and for all those who might become the next victim.

Please do not forget Morgan was a very kind and loved young woman.  Her murder has changed many people’s lives forever – they will never be the same.  Please do not just think of her as a victim…remember her as a person.

  1. I had the opportunity to just watch the episode on Discovery ID about Morgan. Though the story is sad, I was happy to hear that there is consistency in fighting for her. Many women are fortunate to get away and some sadly are not. I am proud of the strength her family and supporters have to continue putting her story out there. I hope that the case gets reopened and solved for good — for peace for the whole family.

      • I also watched the program and cannot believe how unjust our society can become. Absolutely heart wrenching for the family. I posted it on fb and I wish I could do more to help. Love, Peace and Justice for beloved Morgan and family

        • Carrie spreading the information to as many people as you possibly can is one of the best things you can do to make changes in the way stalking is viewed. Thank you for sharing Morgan’s story. Love & light to you and your family as well.

  2. This was definitely a suicide. Amitryptaline can be extremely dangerous for anyone taking it under the age of 25. Sucks for the parents that they lost a child, but this is the classic “my kid would never do that” type of thinking.

    • Really? So glad you are more qualified than one of the most leading forensic toxicologists in the US who by the way reviewed her toxicology results. Her results (scientific proof by the way not supposition) show she died of a “massive” dose that she could not have ingested, she would have died at 1,000 ng and she had 7,900 + in her blood – she didn’t even have enough expired pills to come close to the amount in her body. And she had 5 other date rape drugs in her gastric contents that were not in her blood stream – she was either almost dead or dead at the time that date rape cocktail was put into her via a feeding tube and the person that knows about that feeding tube will probably be shocked to find out that we know…she was a victim of a horrific stalking and murder and for people like you to try to pretend it didn’t happen just perpetrates the victimization of other victims of stalking. You should be ashamed of yourself. You have no idea what you are talking about. Do you think criminals don’t lie? Do you believe there has never been a law enforcement agent that has lied? Wake up and smell the roses and then do something to make positive changes in this world and save others instead of feeding into the evil in this world.

      • Just saw the show about your lovely, beautiful Morgan. It was horrifying to watch. Can’t even imagine what it is is like for your family to have experienced this. I hope you and your husband find peace.

        • Thank you so much – we will never be the same as we used to be. I just hope with every cell in my body that Morgan’s story makes a difference in the life of another victim of stalking. I continually work with other victims of stalking and things have to change for the better for the victim. Right now it’s like the criminal has all the rights.

      • I am so very sorry about your loss. I, too, just watched the episode and can only imagine the horror you all felt. I know that you still have a nightmare ahead of you too! You are going to receive a lot of sceptic comments. I pray for your strength now that the episode aired. Good luck and God bless!

        • Thank you so much! Yes, I always get people that say they “know” everything and tell me I am crazy but it does not bother me. I do not have time for people that do not have the facts or do not want to hear them. Steve and I always try to stay focused on the facts and making sure the right law enforcement agencies know those facts. Your kind words are very, very appreciated.

        • You are so sweet Carrie – thank you for that. I am not always calm and cool, but I really try to be logical and clear about the truth. I believe that is the only way for the real facts to reveal themselves.

      • I watched the episode and was taken aback by the lackadaisical approach of a coroner. The easiest way out is what appeagrs to have been done. Mom, stay strong, get justice for your daughter Morgan- your strength is amazing. God bless you and your family. Morgan has her wings. PS- you know you will always face ignorant and uninformed opinions. Hang tough!

        • Sending you air hugs…thank you so much for making my day. Morgan does have her wings and she is stronger than ever and she is behind us getting the truth out there 100%.

  3. I just watched the ID show and am so horrified and heartbroken as to what your family had to endure. Did you hire a private investigator? Just curious if other women were stalked by this sad excuse for a human. Whatever support you need to push Morgan’s case to be reopened, I would love to assist. Stay strong Toni — and keep fighting for the truth to be heard.

    • Thank you so much Jennifer. I would love your help – I really believe the more information that goes out to as many people as possible is key to changes being made. Stalking is serious and deadly as in Morgan’s case so it needs to be taken seriously and dealt with swiftly before it becomes deadly. Please share Morgan’s story anywhere and everywhere…thank you so much!

  4. This made me cry so hard watching the awful months this beautiful girl had to endure and the family that now has lost their daughter. Your family is in my thoughts and I hope and pray you find the person who did this. Morgan deserves to have her justice.

    • Thank you so much Kelly…will will never give up until Morgan receives justice. All other victims of stalking need to see that our justice system works so change needs to be make.

  5. It is my belief after watching morgans story on I.D., your local authorities, dropped, the preverbial ball. What i, and others think you should look into, is finding someone who mite be able to clean up the video evidence you have, and quite possibly reveal a more decisive image of the perpetrator. Law enforcement dont always have the tools to do such things. Check the web and look for someone who is , we’ll say, less than legal in thier endeavors. You might be surprised at what can be accomplished, when you look at people who aren’t operating within the confines of the law. They are out there, and more than likely willing to help. Sometimes you just have to do what ya gotta do. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Miss Morgan was a very beautiful, free spirited young woman. She didn’t deserve what happend to her.

  6. Just saw the show about your lovely, beautiful Morgan. It was horrifying to watch. Can’t even imagine what it is is like for your family to have experienced this. I hope you and your husband find peace.

  7. Toni, you must be so happy to see progress after so long. I wasn’t able to watch the show as I don’t get the ID channel. Is there any way you can post the episode to YouTube so even more of us can see it? Thanks very much.

    • Thanks Shannon – I am waiting to see if they will send me a link and as soon as I get it I will post it here for those who were unable to see it. Take care!

  8. Hello,i am so hurt and saddened by this Morgan’s story touched my heart. I pray for the strength to fight and for your relationship with hubby as well i know all to well what the loss of a child can do. One thing i wonder is the way the show mad it seem as though the night before she died she heard the tapping and when u saw the surveillance u could see someone at the window and i guess after things settled down she asked could she sleep in your room and dad said no and next morning she was gone,if thats so did that bother u for a long time thinking maybe if u would have let her sleep in your room she would be here? Why would he make her go back and sleep in there after u see with your own eyes someone at her window. Please i mean no disrespect its just something that really bothered me after i watched it

    • You brought up a very important point…after the loss of a child the strain on the parents relationship is immense. We were lucky enough to find an amazing grief therapist that we met with every Friday for 2 years straight and that made all the difference in the world. It is so hard because you blame yourself for not saving her, you blame your spouse, the puppy, anyone and everything at one time or another because your brain has such a hard time accepting that evil crept into your life and killed your child. Steve and I have been in love since just before we both turned 16 and Morgan was our youngest child, 13 years younger than her older sister and 10 years younger than her brother. She brought tremendous joy into all of our lives.

I am so sorry if you were mislead by the show. Yes, Morgan was getting tapping and banging on her windows up until her murder but she was bringing home a male friend to sleep on the couch with her or sleeping away at friends houses. The week of her murder she only slept home on Tuesday night and had to leave for the safety of a friends house in the middle of the night and then that fateful Thursday night was the only other night she was home alone and she was murdered. She had stopped sleeping in our closet after the first month of her stalking her back hurt so much and she refused to allow her stalker to drive her from her room. Morgan was a fighter. 2 months before her murder she hung the heavy flannel sheets over her windows, over her already existing window treatments so no one could see in and she could not see out. She never asked to sleep in our room that night and Steve would never have said no to her request – ever. No worries your question was a good one – don’t feel bad that you asked it.

  9. Hi Toni,

First I want to say I’m so sorry for your heartbreak. What an unimaginable loss. I watched the episode last night and although it was very good I felt like it was edited for time, and left a lot of unanswered questions. I was curious:

Do you know how the intruder was able to get in?
We’re there obvious signs of a break in?
Did your cameras catch anything that evening?
When you say things were taken from her room, did the police take them or were they stolen?
Did the stalking stop right after the murder?
In the episode you say you were conducting your own investigation, did you ever narrow in on a suspect?

Sorry for all of the questions. I love the ID channel and the fact that they highlight cases but in this episode I wish they had done another hour or so on your case. Feel free to reply or email me. I just want to get more facts so I can continue to spread the word.

Hoping you get a speedy investigation underway soon,

    Isabel

    • Isabel thank you for writing in and thank you for your kind wishes.

Yes, there were multiple ways for the killer to have gotten in and I am not at liberty to say what we do know for sure at this time…sorry. No there were no obvious signs of a break in. Please let me also say if you speak with the experts in stalking you will know most of the time there is no evidence of forced entry and stalker do get in. Celebrities with a lot of money, alarms, guards, etc. have been in the news because their stalkers have managed to get through all their security and make it into their yards, house and even their roofs. There are many articles on the news about this.

Yes our camera did catch things that evening and I can not release that information right now either…we believe an investigation will be coming and that information is only for the investigators.

Things were taken from her room and I do not believe the sheriffs took them. The sheriffs know what was taken and they would not write up a report of a robbery. They are things a “stalker” would take as trophies.

We thought the stalking had stopped after her murder but after we started to pursue the truth about what happened to Morgan we became the next targets of the stalker.

There was a suspect 3 months before Morgan’s murder, Morgan id’d him to the sheriffs, they knew who he was, we knew, her friends knew, her teachers knew, everyone knew.

Please do spread the word so we can get justice for Morgan and make the changes that are needed to stop future senseless stalking and murders. Thanks so much!

      • Very sad cryed watching it my thoughts are with you and your family what a beautiful young lady she was love from Ireland Xx

  10. Toni, just finished watching the episode about your beautiful daughter Morgan. If that happened to my child, like you I would never stop until my questions were answered. I pray that you find one of the caring investigators who are determined to find the person responsible for Morgan’s death, and that you and your husband can find some level of peace, and are able to move on in some way. I don’t like the word “closure”, but maybe a chapter in your story can finally be closed. There’s another show on TNT with former prosecutors tenaciously fight for answers, I think it’s called Cold Justice. Maybe that’s another avenue for you to try, or they can turn you on to someone in your area. Bless you, your husband, and all of the people who loved your precious daughter. Hopefully with some real answers you can finally have only memories of the happy times.

  11. Toni, I watched the show about your beautiful daughter Morgan. I wasn’t able to finish the show and have been looking to see if they ever caught the stalker. I was saddened that you were treated so badly by the police and your daughters death was ruled a suicide. I cannot believe the stalking wasn’t taken seriously. Keep up the fight and i hope that after the show, someone will take notice and start a full on investigation. Prayers go to Morgan, you and your family.

    • Thank you so much for your kind words and prayers. I do believe a full investigation will happen – I just do not know when and that is really the hard part right now.

  12. Our justice system failed your family. I would do all you can to reopen the case. I was stalked when I was younger my freedom and trust were taking away. My father was able to catch the dude and he did jail time. I know your feelings. My heart goes out to u. Sorry for ur loss. She was a beautiful girl.

    • I am sorry you were stalked, but I am so happy to hear your dad caught the stalker.

Steve tried so hard to do exactly the same thing, he really believed he was going to be able to run outside and catch him but unfortunately we were not as young or as fast and Steve was torn apart from not being able to protect his youngest child from this monster.

Thank you so very much for writing in to tell me how you feel…I greatly appreciate it. Take care!
