Morgan’s Friends Speak Out

Over the past holidays it was a very busy time for new college students coordinating their visits home with families and friends.  The writer Sarah Afshar was busy too, coordinating interviews with Morgan’s close friends about their feelings on a very tragic loss.  Some of Morgan’s friends found recounting that day was just not bearable, and Steve and I thank them sooo much for trying.  We also have an incredibly difficult time when discussing the day we lost Morgan, and reliving even small portions of what has happened.

What Sarah was able to put together has been published on Yahoo and I welcome all of you to see a peek of Morgan through the eyes of those who knew her so well.  We will always miss her, but sharing her life will also raise awareness of stalking, and we know that is what Morgan wants.

I love hearing her friends remember her so fondly! 😀 I believe more people should be friendlier like Morgan so more of us can know kindness that strong… Its sad to say, but the people who don’t appreciate that kind of love/friendship are the ones who insist on company for their misery… Love is a powerful force & it can overcome hate. Thank you again, Toni… This blog sheds much needed light on the subculture of darkness that has been festering in society for years. As a mother, it is depressing to look around & see so much negativity… through Morgan’s friends’ descriptions of her I can tell she tried to set a positive example for anyone who saw her to follow… showing us that together, all of us as individuals can do our part to improve society & leave lasting positive impacts on each other. Your blog is an amazing gathering place for parents & children alike to discuss personal & public safety concerns that can go un-discussed in most other conversations… those aren’t the easiest conversations for families to have… I can feel the strength of Morgan through the words you all share about her, she is definitely a guiding light in the hard work to be done. I appreciate the strength it is taking for you to see this through. Thank goodness you are getting the necessary assistance in your quest for justice! Although an array of professionals really shouldn’t be necessary to bring out simple truth, I look forward to seeing the truth come out & the guilty be punished.

  3. Toni do you know if you will be posting a link to the Ricki Lake show which was supposed to have psychics talking about Morgan? I’ve searched all over the net and can only find them speaking to other guests that day.

    • I know I missed seeing the show and I could only find the 2 minute trailer for the show – I asked and that is all that has been released…I guess the Ricki Lake Show doesn’t release whole episodes…I am so sad too that I missed it.

      • I have it DVRed on our cable box… Morgan’s mention was brief… = ) it was just a short & sweet answer to a question Jennifer Shaffer was asked about being assistance to law enforcement… she gave the example of being able to tell the parents of a girl who died (which was all she knew before she channeled Morgan) that she was actually murdered and it had to do with horses… later finding out that the beautiful young lady was poisoned with massive amounts of horse medicine… I wish I could get it off my telly for you to see… the entire episode was amazing, I bet it would have been awesome to be in the audience that day…

  4. OK so I admit I looked up Morgan’s long-time boyfriend on FB after reading this article… As I was looking thru his pictures (and he has a lot of Morgan), there were a few that made my breath catch. She is soooo beautiful Toni.
    And after reading what her friends have written about her and looking thru these pictures, I am even more confident than before that she did not take her own life. Such a free spririted young woman… loving her life.

    She did love life, and she didn’t want to leave, of that I am sure. And I hope the way Morgan lived her life, as well as how she died will raise awareness on so many levels, and if it does then she will be very happy I guarantee it.

  6. I saw a small part of the Dr.Phil show today and I wish I had turned the channel sooner because I missed most of it. To be honest I only saw enough to think you were parents who couldn’t deal with your daughters death. I was totally wrong. I immediately came to your blog so I could find out more about you and what really happened. I read the entire blog this afternoon and my heart goes out to you and your family. I cannot imagine the fear and frustration this animal caused your family. I have children who are grown and just the thought of one of them being tortured the way Morgan was infuriates and terrifies me. Did the FBI look at the videos you have? I am confused because they can take a grainy video and clean it up so well for bank robberies and drug investigations that identifying the animal(s) shouldn’t be an issue. I hope they catch the person(s) who did this to your beautiful daughter and they prosecute them to the fullest! I pray this stays in the light until they are caught. You are an awesome lady and I commend you for everything you are doing to help others who are dealing with this horrible crime. God bless you and your family and just know your daughter is now a beautiful angel who can never be tortured again. My prayers are with you.

    • Thank you Vanessa – the only answer I can think to say to you is that if the Sheriff’s office had really wanted to make sure Morgan’s case was investigated properly they would have done a lot of different things that we asked them to do one of which you mention which is send our photos to be enhanced by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation – other policy agencies and Sheriff’s Departments here in Colorado do it but ours did not and would not even when asked by me. One the morning we found her body they could have and should have called in the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and had critical evidence taken and analyzed but the did not and would not. I could go on and on but I won’t right now…I do believe Morgan is an angel now and can not be hurt again and I do feel her around us surrounding us with love. We appreciate your prayers and caring even though we have never met.

  7. It amazes me how thoroughly they boggled your case. Can you send the pictures video etc. to a lab yourself to see if they can be cleaned up?? I pray you get the answers and the help you need and keep up the fight for justice. I got most of the women on my friends list to sign your petition I just hope it helps you. remembering your family!

    • Vanessa thank you so much for your help. And yes the pictures will be enhanced although some of them are pretty good already and those will come out eventually too

  8. A thought. Did Morgan keep a diary? So far, I’ve not read that she did. And I imagine she didn’t, or you would have known more about her. I hope you find all the answers you’re looking for.

    • Carla, Morgan did not keep a diary, she kept journals, and she was extremely open to us about what was going on in her life. She even read letters to me for my opinion when she wrote to her boyfriend about personal things, so yes, we did know our daughter.
      She was not depressed, again please note SHE HAD A STALKER, she was scared, exhausted, angry that this person was doing this to her BUT not suicidal. People that believe that, when there is no evidence whatsoever, are being disingenuous to ALL VICTIMS OF STALKING – it is absolutely outrageous. We have found the answers we were looking for and unfortunately the evidence ALL points to murder so as a mother and a victims advocate I refuse to ever back down from fighting for justice for Morgan.

  9. I hope an investigation has been opened as the police failed horribly. Even Dr Phil failed horribly in not allowing all details to be revealed on his show. Morgan’s face was beaten and jewelry was stolen and then the neighbor girl made a reference to the jewelry on Facebook.
