I received a call today from an amazing, and very intuitive woman that knew Morgan since she was young…she gave her singing lessons. She called to tell me that while looking through some old papers, she came upon a question she asked Morgan when she first met her. She asked her what her favorite song was, and Morgan told her it was, “Once upon a December” from the movie Anastasia. She felt the need to call me to tell me this, and of course I cried, but it wasn’t because I was sad, it was because it reminded me of so many things about Morgan – about how she read every book she could get her hands on about women from the past that had ruled countries, or were part of aristocracy, strong women that were remembered over time, ever since she watched Anastasia. It was a passion of hers to learn everything about strong women, women that had stood up for things, no matter how hard their life was. The song also reminded me of the month of December (the same month Morgan was killed) and in the movie, the strength of a family. Anyway, I just felt like sharing this with all of you. And here are the lyrics to the song:
Once Upon A December
Dancing Bears,
Painted Wings,
Things I almost remember.
And a song someone sings,
Once upon a December.
Someone holds me safe and warm.
Horses prance through a silver storm.
Figures dancing gracefully
Across my memory…
Far away, long ago,
Glowing dim as an ember,
Things my heart
Used to know,
Once upon a December.
Someone holds me safe and warm.
Horses prance through a silver storm.
Figures dancing gracefully
Across my memory…
Far away, long ago,
Glowing dim as an ember,
Things my heart
Used to know,
Things it yearns to remember…
And a song
Someone sings
Once upon a December
