this is a great idea. please pass this on…. share share share
This tip came from a neighborhood watch coordinator. Next time you come home for the night and you start to put your keys away, think of this: It’s a security alarm system that you probably already have and requires no installation. Test it. It will go off from most everywhere inside your house and will keep honking until your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the key fob chain. It works if you park in your driveway or garage.
If your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to break into your house, odds are the burglar/rapist won’t stick around. After a few seconds, all the neighbors will be looking out their windows to see who is out there and sure enough the criminal won’t want that. And remember to carry your keys while walking to your car in a parking lot. The alarm can work the same way there. This is something that should really be shared with everyone. Maybe it could save a life or a sexual abuse crime.
P.S. I am sending this to everyone I know because I think it is fantastic. Would also be useful for any emergency, such as a heart attack, where you can’t reach a phone. My Mom has suggested to my Dad that he carry his car keys with him in case he falls outside and she doesn’t hear him. He can activate the car alarm and then she’ll know there’s a problem.
Wow! Thanks, Toni! I’ve had that type of little keychain for every one of my cars, and it never occurred to me that the button on it can be used as a “panic button,” what a great idea! Thanks again!
GREAT IDEA! I don’t have a car, but I’ll tell my friends who do!
My grandmother used this when her house caught on fire. We lived next door and my dad was able to run (literally) and help save her. My grandfather passed away in the fire but luckily thanks to that alarm, my grandmother was spared. This is a really important tip to share.
Wow ….. You talk about what an amazing person you daughter was and that I can see was without Doubt …still cannot understand how so many people let Morgan down?!! Morgan , her friends and of all her Family everything did everything they should have and could have done to protect her !!! You are truly inspirational! as someone who has exsprienced the fear that being stalked brings I want to thank you for you courage and strength and determination to not only seek justice for Morgan but for the millions of people who are faced with this fear everyday … Morgan would be proud…..
Thank you so much – I truly appreciate your kind words. Some days, like today, I don’t feel very strong.
I have come to realize over these past few years that unless you know exactly what you are up against you won’t be prepared enough for what may happen. In the case of a stalker he or she can decide exactly when to strike, while you on the other hand have no idea when and how to protect yourself, the only thing that can really help is knowledge. Our family did not know what we were up against. We did our best, but if we had been more knowledgable Morgan may still be alive today. So going forward my intent is to raise awareness of the seriousness of stalkers, and to bring as much knowledge as to how to protect yourself to as many people as possible, so again, thank you for acknowledging my effort and take care.
