We Are Not Talking About This Enough. And It Is Costing Lives.<\/span>
\nLast Friday on Women Empowered Across The World, we heard a story that no parent should ever have to tell.<\/span>
\nToni Ingram lost her daughter to stalking in 2011.<\/span>
\nLet that sit.<\/span>
\nHer daughter, Morgan, was not \u201coverreacting.\u201d<\/span>
\nShe was not \u201cbeing dramatic.\u201d<\/span>
\nShe was not \u201cimagining it.\u201d<\/span>
\nShe was being stalked.<\/span>
\nAnd the system did not protect her in time.<\/span>
\nOut of unimaginable grief, Toni chose purpose.<\/span>
\nShe became a victims\u2019 advocate.<\/span>
\nShe founded MorganIngram.com<\/a>, a platform dedicated to educating the public about stalking behaviors, warning signs, and victim support.<\/span>
\nShe now serves as West Coast Director for Families of Homicide Victims and Missing Persons, working tirelessly to improve awareness, justice system protocols, and survivor resources.<\/span>
\nThis is not a rare problem.<\/span>
\nStalking is often minimized.<\/span>
\nDismissed.<\/span>
\nRomanticized in media.<\/span>
\nIgnored until it escalates.<\/span>
\nAnd it escalates.<\/span>
\nToni shared realities most people do not understand:<\/span>
\n\u2022 Stalking is patterned, obsessive behavior \u2014 not \u201charmless attention.\u201d<\/span>
\n\u2022 Victims often struggle to be believed.<\/span>
\n\u2022 Law enforcement systems are not always connected across jurisdictions.<\/span>
\n\u2022 Safe homes often do not accommodate pets \u2014 forcing victims to choose between safety and leaving their animals behind.<\/span>
\n\u2022 Education is severely lacking for youth and adults alike.<\/span>
\nWe talk about empowerment.<\/span>
\nWe talk about leadership.<\/span>
\nWe talk about boldness.<\/span>
\nBut empowerment without safety is incomplete.<\/span>
\nIf your daughter says she is scared \u2014 believe her.<\/span>
\nIf your friend says someone won\u2019t stop contacting them \u2014 take it seriously.<\/span>
\nIf you are in leadership \u2014 advocate for stronger policies and awareness programs.<\/span>
\nWe need:<\/span>
\n✔ National databases that connect stalking incidents<\/span>
\n✔ Education in schools about stalking behaviors<\/span>
\n✔ Better cross-agency communication<\/span>
\n✔ Expanded safe housing resources<\/span>
\n✔ Community awareness campaigns<\/span>
\nThis is not just a legal issue.<\/span>
\nIt is a cultural issue.<\/span>
\nAnd culture changes when leaders speak.<\/span>
\nToni\u2019s courage to relive her loss publicly is not for attention \u2014 it is for prevention.<\/span>
\nShe does not want another mother to stand where she stands.<\/span>
\nThis post is not meant to be comfortable.<\/span>
\nIt is meant to wake you up.<\/span>
\nStalking is real.<\/span>
\nIt is escalating.<\/span>
\nIt is deadly.<\/span>
\nAnd ignoring it does not make it disappear.<\/span>
\nIf this message moves you:<\/span>
\nShare it.<\/span>
\nTalk about it.<\/span>
\nEducate your children.<\/span>
\nSupport advocacy organizations.<\/span>
\nDemand better systems.<\/span>
\nAwareness saves lives. Please watch this episode and share it with everyone<\/span>
