Easter Memories: Morgan Coloring Eggs…Happy Colors

eastereggs

Wishing everyone a very happy Easter…this is a picture Morgan took of the colored eggs we all did on her last Easter on this planet.  Morgan really loved celebrating Easter – I never really wondered why it was her favorite holiday, but now I think I know.  Here is the last Easter post she posted…

4-24-2011

It’s about truth.

It’s about being honest with the individuals that were blessed to be in your life because they deserve it. Hurt them, let them down, enlighten them, as long as you were honest you couldn’t have been more perfect because when you’re not, when you try to protect someone from the truth or try to gain something from their ignorance, you’re robbing them from their own truth, from their own chance at finding the things in this world that make them even happier than your illusion, you’re building a life of lies not just for yourself but for everyone around you.

If things don’t work out between two people, if they don’t go as you want or had planned, that is infinitely better than leading a life of senseless mental slavery.

This world is beautiful and unfolding and the only thing you control in it is how honest with yourself that you are.

Happy Easter, beautiful children.

How The Internet Convicted An Innocent Man – Seriously?

In this blog I have continually stated the facts about what happened during the stalking of our daughter Morgan.  Those facts were sometimes hard to write, because Steve and I made many mistakes, while trying to protect Morgan – we had no idea about what we were up against.  It’s hard to admit those mistakes, because, as it is we constantly beat ourselves up over them, blaming ourselves for not understanding how lethal stalking can be, trusting the sheriffs, not listening enough.  No shortage of mistakes in Morgan’s stalking.  But even so, I truly believe that sharing what really happened in Morgan’s case can somehow help others, if they find themselves, or their loved ones, in the same situation.

As far as the people that are named in this blog, as well as listed as a “suspect” in the police reports, what I would like to say to them is, “You know what I have written in this blog is the truth, and if the truth can hurt you, then what you did was wrong, and the truth should hurt!”  The Aspen Daily News used to have a saying that went like this…“If you don’t want it printed, then don’t let it happen.”

Enough trying to be politically correct – the truth is the truth – my daughter was stalked and murdered. I get comments like, “Toni you keep adding to your posts – if they are about the truth, why do you have to add to them?”  Seriously?  I have to wonder what agenda those people have – if they had really read what I have been writing all along they would know that I have stated that I wasn’t releasing all the information and evidence we had – why would we?  They would know that in the beginning of this blog I said that I did not want to include all the details, I was cautioned, warned, advised, you name it.  Some details are to be held back, as I was really hoping her case would get opened and investigated.  I also was not able to get any of the police reports or even some of the crime scene photos until approx. 2 years later – so that was information I did not even have when I started this blog, and when I did finally get them, I still held back, honestly believing that writing to the CBI, Governor and Attorney General of Colorado would be the best road to follow. They tried, I know they did, but after that didn’t work, many people encouraged me to start to release more evidence. Today I’m talking about evidence that is already in the public domain, versions of the sheriff’s reports have one of the suspect’s work hours included in those reports. Highlighting the actual work hours, so people could see for themselves that a – “suspect” in this case was lying  was easy.

But here’s the thing, no matter what facts I put in this blog, people that are already emotionally involved in believing the lies they have heard from a small group of supporters of the “suspect(s)” will never change their minds, no matter what they are shown, and all the other supporters of justice for Morgan already have their own take on the truth about this case, so this is really just for the select group in the middle. The surrogates of the sheriff’s department work hard to sway your opinion. The criminals responsible for the stalking and murder of Morgan work hard to sway your opinion. So to really know the truth you need to read the facts of the case.

Morgan was forever silenced, just days before she was to give video testimony about her stalking. In some parts of the country that is a heinous crime.  Intimidating a witness is also a serious federal crime.  And yes, murdering a witness is certainly intimidating a witness, with special rules applied, no statute of limitations.  And that reminds me of another comment that was made to this blog, right at the 2-year anniversary of her murder – a comment that just said, “Too late the statute of limitation is up.”  What I would like to remind that person again is that there is NO statute of limitation on murder and Morgan was murdered.  Until Morgan sees her day in court I promise to continue our pursuit of justice for Morgan.

The reason for this particular post is also for the people that were directly involved in Morgan’s stalking and murder to read…I want them to know, “I am not giving up – and none of Morgan’s family and friends are giving up, because she is so very loved, something you would know nothing about.  The truth will continue to come out and I hope you feel the walls closing in on you.  I know the day is coming where there will be nothing left for you to hide behind.  I really hope you can feel it, because I can, and it makes me very happy.  Morgan did not deserve what you did to her, but you definitely deserve what you have done to yourself through your own pitifully cowardice actions.”

Where evil lurks unimpeded – change needs to happen…

garfieldcounty

We live in Colorado, actually in Garfield County, which according to Wikipedia is the eighth most extensive and the twelfth most populous of the 64 counties of the State of Colorado of the United States. The county population was 56,389 at 2010 census.[1] The county is named in honor of United States President James A. Garfield. The county seat is Glenwood Springs.

Now I wanted to start out with this bit of knowledge, because all I have been hearing since Morgan was murdered is that we live in a small town, so they have limited resources.  Not enough qualified professionals in law enforcement, or in the Coroner’s office…does this mean that if you have crimes committed against you, and you live in a small town, that you have no rights compared to others that live in a big city?  I don’t believe that for one minute…should over 56,000 people not be able to feel safe?  When mistakes are made wouldn’t you think the professionals in charge would want to correct those mistakes in order to protect, and serve the citizens of this County as they have been sworn to do?  In Morgan’s felony stalking, and murder case there have been so many mistakes made by the Sheriff’s Department, and the Coroner’s office – is this a case of CYA or is it a cover-up?  I want to know – I have had people write in to me with their own stories of what happened to someone in their family, or one of their best friends, and they live in this County – this feels to me like it has been going on for a long time…like this is generational. When will it change?  It will never change, and it could someday happen to your family if we don’t all come together, and demand that it change!

Our family has lived in this valley since the 70’s.  This is a beautiful place, and I remember I always thought it was the perfect place to raise a family – safer than a big city, but under this beautiful face there now lies a dark secret.  Very bad things have been happening in Colorado for quite some time now, and there are people that can’t afford for this to all come out.  Some of it they could not contain, as when the media has taken hold of some horrid events that have happened in just the last couple of years here in Colorado – but for the sake of tourism, and the economy most things are kept under raps.  Why, oh why, can’t the state enforce it’s laws, do the right thing, and go on the attack against crime?  To me that seems like the best course of action.  Then this beautiful state can also become the safest state – something to be proud of, instead of people referring to it as the devil with a mask of beauty covering it’s face.

Morgan loved Colorado for it’s beauty and nature.  She also stayed away from certain people because they were entrenched in drugs, drama and lies, among other things.  I refuse any longer to sit by and allow those people to make up lies about Morgan to protect themselves.  It is time to finally go on the offensive and tell not only the truth – but the whole truth about who was involved in Morgan’s stalking and murder.  Before I was waiting for another law enforcement agency to come along and look into this, but I am now tired of waiting – it has been over 6 years now!  Steve and I will now through everything we can muster into getting justice for Morgan, helping others in the same situation, and making the changes we want to see made.  If some people don’t like it – too bad.

We will need everyone’s help.  I have realized now that when I accept others help we end up so much further along this path.  I have been told that there is an army on the other side as well as an army here on earth that want to help make these changes – so here we go – the time is now!

An Attempt To Cover-Up?

The Truth Never Changes – I have said this from the very beginning of this Blog. And in view of the Crime Watch Daily series that just aired about Morgan’s case, we need look no further than the statement credited to the Sheriff himself for a very revealing truth.

It’s typed on the screen starting at 5:39 of part 4 on the Crime Watch Daily 4-part series, here is the link to watch it on Crime Watch Daily, scroll down to part 4, and fast forward to 5:39 to see it yourself – Crime Watch Daily 4 Part Series – or trust that I transcribed it correctly and read on.

Nerissa Knight is speaking, “We reached out to the Garfield County Sheriff’s Department for an interview. They responded in part: The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office will not engage in further conversations regarding the Morgan Ingram case. That case is closed, pending any new credible evidence being brought forward…”

This is what the Garfield County Sheriff told Crime Watch Daily. Does anyone else see the conditionally impossible statement being made here? If you will not, “engage in further conversations…” then it is impossible to ever have, “new credible evidence being brought forward…” This is yet just another obvious example of what the sheriff, from the beginning of Morgan’s stalking and right through her murder, did.  Her suspicious death investigation, which lasted all of 4 hours the morning we found her body, was riddled with gross negligence, and this continues to keep any hope of justice for Morgan covered up tightly. And I ask why?

Steve and I already knew this was the defensive posture the sheriff’s department had adopted.  All of our certified letters and legal notifications to the Sheriff about credible evidence was completely ignored and never answered.  We were also contacted by people over the years since Morgan’s murder who have shared their stories of shocking frustration. They said they had called the Garfield County Sheriff’s office, with potential new information and leads about Morgan’s case, only to be told the “the Morgan Ingram case is closed” and then they were hung up on every time. The sheriffs would not listen to any new credible evidence in Morgan’s case, click…

Would that sound like an attempt to cover up our daughter Morgan’s case? Because that is how I see it… look at what they say now, on national TV – that they “will not engage in further conversations regarding the Morgan Ingram case.”  Ok, they won’t listen to anything, just as we were told years ago, back then they followed with terse comments and then a hang up. Oh, and now to sound credible the Sheriff adds, “That case is closed, pending any new credible evidence being brought forward.”

Once again, am I missing something? Or is it just as obvious to you that if you “will not engage in further conversations,” there is absolutely no chance you will ever have, “new credible evidence.” The first statement precludes the second from ever happening.

Now the Sheriff goes an unbelievable step further and adds, ”There was no credible evidence of ‘stalking’ and the case was ruled a suicide by the Garfield County Coroner’s Office.”

No credible evidence of stalking – is he serious? Has he not seen the picture of the stalker watching his deputies drive away? Because when his deputies came back to see that picture, their response was instant and they were filled with anger. They cursed the stalker and his blatant disregard for law enforcement.  They drove away, angered at how he was, “thumbing his nose at them.”  Mark Wynn, an expert on matters of stalkers, and stalking, has stated his assessment about this type of behavior, he says it indicates a dangerous stalker, one to be taken very seriously.  The Deputies got angry the stalker was cavalier to their presence and left, Morgan was killed three months later.  I believe Mark Wynn was correct.

Steve and I were there at 62 Coral Drive through the stalking, every day. We lived the stalking and were both added to the list of victims in this FELONY STALKING case. It was pervasive, frightening, and practically debilitating for us – BUT far, far, worse for our daughter. Morgan had her life turned upside down by the stalking, and with all her determination she fought so hard to maintain her life and press forward. Until she was brutally murdered, just days after the detective predicted the stalking would escalate, and said patrols of our home would be increased… and days before Morgan was scheduled to give video testimony about her stalking, and the detective would collect the prime suspect’s work records. Those records show Keenan Vanginkel clocked into work at exactly 2:00 am on 12/2/2011… The Coroner, Deputy Coroner and Forensic Pathologist made no attempt to establish time of death. Our experts estimate Morgan died between midnight and 1 am, leaving Keenan ample time to have killed her – so how is that an alibi?  Our house was just a 5 minute, or less drive to his job, and at 2 in the morning I guarantee there wasn’t much traffic!

“The case was ruled a suicide by the Garfield County Coroner’s Office? An absolute half truth at the very best, because the sheriff fails to mention that Morgan’s death was ruled NATURAL CAUSES for the first nine months and then, after documented threats to change Morgan’s manner of death if we did not back off, additional testing discovered Sexual Assault drugs in her stomach, and the pathologist then chooses to ignore the scientific fact that it was put there after she was dead, and he fulfills his threat to change his mind to suicide. Medical certainty? Not even close. Scientific fact? Impossible for Morgan to have put a date rape cocktail of five drugs, she did not have, into her stomach after she was dead. Absolutely shocking to how low they will go to justify the wild speculation and gross negligence that has, and obviously now continues to take the place of the facts in Morgan’s case, first as she was victim of felony stalking (read the police reports), and then she was murdered.

The truth that has never changed is that the Sheriff would not accept evidence then, and will not accept any new evidence now, in Morgan’s case. And I know this for many reasons, but to be fair I have never spoken to the Sheriff or met with him in person, just as I have never met with the coroner or spoken with him. Sheriffs, Police Chiefs, and Coroners, in other counties in Colorado, and across the country, have however taken the time to speak with me, in some cases even met with me in person, to offer advice. But in Garfield County there has never been such a simple courtesy.

What I do know is that the Sheriff is always responsible for the actions of each and every deputy and detective he has.  And as for the whole cover-up idea, well wouldn’t not accepting any new evidence on one hand, while you claim to be waiting for new evidence on the other hand, be the first requirement of an ongoing cover-up? Keep the wild speculation, half truths and no truth, front and center, and quash any possibility of new evidence? Because isn’t that exactly what is going on here? By their own admission? I welcome your thoughts.

The Crime Watch Daily 4 Part Series of Morgan’s Stalking and Murder

Morgan non a trip with Mom and Dad

Along the way on a trip to Santa fe New Mexico

Please see the 4 part Crime Watch Daily special about Morgan’s case. Kelly McLear produced it, Nerissa Knight was the investigative reporter and was really great, and all of the many others whom Steve and I never had the chance to meet all worked so hard to tell what they could about Morgan’s case. I am so grateful for all of their hard work and diligence. What a great, great job they did on her story.

To see it, first you could go to the Crime Watch Daily website. They have the story and links to all four videos here: Crime Watch Daily.com website

Or Crime Watch Daily has a facebook page with all four videos posted as well, here are the links:

Pt. 3: Was Morgan Ingram’s Death a Murder or Suicide? – Crime Watch Daily

Pt. 4: Was Morgan Ingram’s Death a Murder or Suicide? – Crime Watch Daily

Let me know what you think after watching all 4 parts – the feedback today has been extremely positive, and as always I encourage stalking victims to view Morgan’s story as educational, compare it to your own case, or that of a friend you know believes or is certain they are being stalked. Understanding stalkers and stalking is difficult, anything that helps a victim of stalking to better deal with their own situation is so important.

Morgan was courageous, a fighter to her bitter and very tragic end. Don’t let this happen to you!
